<image:title>Projects - The Parade - Urban installations: new War Memorial</image:title>
<image:caption>Trenches and the first World War drove the concept for this design as a key conflict image for the 1st World War, words that come to mind implicit of the trenches: country loyalty, slave to duty, naivety, dogged determination, cold, bleak, horror, road to death. So why not let the general public ramble through a trench in appreciation of this experience</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects</image:title>
<image:caption>The site is nestled in the heart of the St.Lawrence countryside, with favourible south facing views over fields. The Client works from home so needs study space, and has two lively young sons. The Client and his wife favour the first floor aspect overlooking the fields so it was decided to create living accommodation on the first floor as an 'upside down' house to take advantage of the views and warm south light. Off the living areas a first floor sedum grassed deck has been designed. The Client enjoys T'ai Chi practice first thing in the morning and his sons like to kick a football so this provides an additional garden space to the ground floor garden area. Character of existing building The character is a reasonably pastiche mock Tudor style the client did not want to replicate but to have a more contemporary look. Please note - the last image indicated here is simply indicative of some examples of design the client is looking at for the final design finishes and are not indicative of any built design for the project.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects</image:title>
<image:caption>The Project focused on the conversion of an existing listed granite barn attached to a main 19th century farmhouse. The client was needing to form separate accommodation from selling his farm with the decline in farming in Jersey and the derelict section of barn to the end of his parents Farmhouse was available. The Planning requirement stipulated the need to maintain as possible the traditional granite barn, and conversion being feasible in regenerating the barn to an alternative use. This project is strongly exemplary of a philosophy to regenerate and innovate taking the best of the old and overlap with a contemporary approach. To also combine with solar panels and heat source pumps using 100% renewable energies, and oil only used as back up.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Front view facing onto garden</image:title>
<image:caption>The Project was to regenerate a derelict but charming Victorian cottages set at the western end of La Rue de Fliquet and junction with La Rue de Dielament. And to extend and reshape the facility. The existing layout was traditional apportioned into a series of connecting but small, the bedrooms were maintained however the remaining living areas were opened up substantially to an open plan layout with an extension onto the garden benefiting from a bijou east facing enclosed garden. The natural daylight to the cottage was increased with some larger fenestration whilst also maintaining the Victorian fenestration and elevation treatment externally which satisfied the historic character of the site and dwelling. The Cottage received a timber clad extension to the east elevation accommodating the lounge with a glazed pitched portal over glazed aluminium contemporary doors. The entrance also received a timber portal porch feature, and the garden was redesigned to be a low maintenance garden with contrasting paving and a defined winding path to the front door.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - Rural Woodland site and Vineyard</image:title>
<image:caption>The Site sits in 10 vergee of cotil land which has a vineyard use to one end. The existing dwelling was originally a granite stone Victorian cottage. It has received some extensions previously which included extensive engineered decking to the south elevation. The proposals are to convert the existing garage into a 3 storey 2 bedroom extension to the existing 3 bedroom cottage. This can facilitate a 2 generation home, or be used as a 5 bedroom dwelling. This has afforded the proposals to have a large second Reception room added extending off the existing South elevation. The style is to compliment the existing granite massing however to offer contemporary design and larger areas of glazing. The conversion extends over 3 floors, including a pod Dressing room extension to the west elevation to the main Master bedroom. All the JfA: Architect Projects now incorporate ecological and sustainable building construction design together with integral energy conservation and renewable energies. A popular product is an air heat source pump together with underfloor heating.</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects</image:title>
<image:caption>The Project has gone through a metamorphisis, with grand plans to reinstate a larger 2 storey cottage to the existing ruined Victorian cottage. The Project took some 2 years so obtain the Planning permit given the very sensitive and scenic coastal site. On obtaining the permit unfortunately the Client was berieved in losing her husband and the Cottage redevelopment was placed on hold. In the meantime the Client has decided to create a romantic ruined garden which will be her garden to the main mock 'castle' house directly behind, where she can barbeque and relax amongst the atmosphere of a ruined garden which we feel is s delightful pause for the Project. **Please note the last few images are drawn from sources to inspire the project and are not indicative of any built work for the Project</image:caption>

<image:title>Projects - House & Yurt site</image:title>
<image:caption>The Site is on an elevated position above St Aubin at the bottom of a south facing steep section of cotil. An existing traditional 18th century farmhouse nestles directly adjacent, this particular site is raised above this. This intention is to maintain hints of the existing stone granite barn whilst complimenting with a new open plan contemporary dwelling stepping up the cotil slightly and extending to new garden taken from the cotil above. The views on the elevated section of new dwelling, and from the living areas, snatch a panoramic view of St Aubins bay. The light equally at this part of the site is much brighter elevated above the depth of the valley below. *Please note the Project is at the Planning Stage of converting the granite barn on the Site to add as lettable accommodation for the Eco Tourism project and/or as additional accommodation for the Client and their 2 year old . The last 3 images are drawn from sources to inspire the project and are not indicative of any built work for the Project.</image:caption>
